O2 Xda Atom hits Malaysia

Wow, can't expect it would so soon reach Malaysia. This little black mighty (AKA the smallest Pocket PC phone in the world) packed with lots of features including FM radio. What? Did I said FM radio? Well, let see what MobileWorld said:

O2 launched the XDA Atom just a couple of hours ago here in Kuala Lumpur.

I was there at the “party” to see for myself, the much anticipated PDA-Phone and I must say I was impressed, both with the Atom and the great event they put up. Those PR people sure are a jolly bunch.

The Atom is the extension to the XDA II mini and it is packed with even more features compared to its predecessor. What’s in it? Well….hold your breath, coz this is what’s in this beauty.

Intel PXA272 416MHz processor, 64MB RAM, 128MB Flash ROM, a 2.7″ 240 x 320 (QVGA) 262K-colour TFT LCD, stereo speakers, a 2-megapixel CMOS camera (with flash), IrDA (SIR), Mini-USB, a miniSD slot, an FM radio, Bluetooth 1.2, 802.11b Wi-Fi, tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, a large 1500mAh Li-Ion battery, and Windows Mobile 5.0. It also includes a few notable O2-exclusive applications and plug-ins - namely, an equalizer for Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, O2 Plus, O2 SMS Plus, O2 MediaPlus (a Media Center-style application), and FM Radio……….whew!

O2 has appointed First Mobile Group (FMG) to distribute the Atom in Malaysia. But as always, good things comes with a price. The Atom will be retailing at RM 2,988 and should be available in time for this coming Christmas, said Mark Bellington, CEO of O2 Asia Pacific.
